Commander Shadowsun

Well, She's finished.

It seems that the clean, Starfleet esque look I was going for is really working on the smaller models. The blue is looking like the perfect accent colour.

I was tempted to paint the guns in a reverse scheme, having them blue with white accents, but decided against it in the end. I can't quite tell you why, it was just a gut instinct, and with most of my painting, I tend to stick with whatever my gut tells me. Even if it is 'feed me' most of the time.

The Drones will get painted in a batch once I've completed the Riptide. They haven't been under-coated because it seems I'm going to have to drill a deeper hole for the flying stand as they just aren't deep enough for my liking.

I'm thinking of using her in game with a squad of Stealth suits. Mainly because she is in one herself, and also because one of her special rules allows stealth suits to automatically take a bullet intended for her. Besides, with her being a tank hunter, what would be more scary than a group of infiltrating troops popping out and taking down your most prized vehicles before disappearing back into the shadows?

Next up will be the Riptide, and also working through the Retribution of Scyrah Battlegroup I just picked up as I look to also start playing Warmachine. I'm also going to start writing a few non-painting pieces about my thoughts on miniature wargaming, and also if I have any interesting battles that have been fought.

Until then, thanks for reading!

  1. Your stuff keeps on getting better dude, and the bar is well and truly raised with Shadowsun.

I'd agree though, if you'd reversed the scheme on the guns it would have hurt the look. I do love the fact that even though you've painted the white sections cleanly, they still have a subtle dirty quality to them.
